It is simply ridiculous to claim that occupying a prestigious functions such as Party of European Socialists President may be influenced in any way outside of democratic practices. It is an accusation that brings the whole family offense European social democratic and modern European politics alike.
We know the specific tensions of an election campaign, but there are no excuses when it comes to such undignified attacks which contradict the values of the EU.
I trust that such conflicts will be set aside sterile to ensure peaceful and fair conduct of elections in Bulgaria. "
